Wie zoeken we?

Voor ons project ‘Ontwikkeling van een Optimo huisvuilwagen’ nodigen we samen met Limburg.net en Verhaert New Products en Services bedrijven en onderzoeksgroepen uit met ervaring en kennis over mechanica, mechatronica, electro-mechanica, hydraulica, mobiele compressie-systemen, sensoriek of werktuigbouwkunde om deel te nemen aan een marktconsultatie. 

Uitdaging

Limburg.net is op zoek naar het afvalophaalsysteem van de toekomst. De doelstellingen zijn om een systeem te ontwikkelen dat toelaat (i) meer fracties gescheiden op te halen, (ii) tegen dezelfde of lagere kostprijs, (iii) met minder transportkilometers, (iv) hoge klantvriendelijkheid en (v) ergonomisch blijft voor de belader.

Optimo is een project waarbij getest wordt of het simultaan ophalen van de verschillende gescheiden afvalfracties in één transport aan deze vereisten voldoet. Burgers sorteren per afvalsoort in zakken met verschillende kleuren, maar alle zakken worden met dezelfde huisvuilwagen opgehaald. In een sorteercentrum worden de zakken dan optisch gesorteerd.

De eerste resultaten van het proefproject zijn positief, maar een belangrijk pijnpunt is dat in de traditionele perskraakwagens het huisvuil zoveel mogelijk samengeperst wordt en er dus een grote laadcapaciteit wordt bereikt. In het proefproject kon maar beperkt worden geperst, omdat de zakken niet mochten scheuren. Het scheuren van de zakken resulteert in de degradatie van selectief gesorteerd materiaal naar restafval. Limburg.net wil nu, samen met PIO, inzetten op de ontwikkeling van een vuilniswagen die de scheurpercentages beperkt, terwijl de laadcapaciteit op peil blijft (via compactie).

Doel marktconsultatie

Tijdens de marktconsultatie willen we de vraag van Limburg.net samenbrengen en 'matchen' met partijen die bij kunnen dragen aan de oplossing. Het is de bedoeling om na te gaan in hoeverre bedrijven en onderzoeksgroepen oplossingen kunnen aanreiken voor de behoeften en noden van Limburg.net, en hoe haalbaar (qua tijd, budget, ontwikkelingstraject, enz.) en innovatief deze oplossingen zijn. De focus van deze marktconsultatie ligt op de ontwikkeling van, of de aanpassing aan de opbouw van de vrachtwagen. Andere elementen nodig voor het succesvol implementeren van het Optimo-systeem, zoals bijv. rond de sortering, logistiek of verbeterde huisvuilzakken vallen buiten de scope van deze marktconsultatie. Deze zullen in een apart traject door Limburg.net opgenomen worden.

Voor een vlotte discussie en goed resultaat is het aangewezen om uw bedrijf of onderzoeksgroep te laten vertegenwoordigen door een technische of vakinhoudelijke medewerker (eerder dan door een sales- of PR-medewerker). Zij kunnen doorgaans beter en sneller inschatten wat de technologische oplossingen kunnen zijn voor elke use-case.

De uitkomst van de marktconsultatie moet Limburg.net in staat stellen om een geschikte innovatieve oplossing voor de gestelde behoefte te laten ontwikkelen of aan te kopen via een overheidsopdracht.

De marktconsultatie gaat door op vrijdag 29 juni 2018 van 10u – 13u Greenville (Centrum-Zuid 1111, 3530 Houthalen-Helchteren, België). Er zal een lunch worden voorzien.

Who are we looking for?

For our project 'Development of an Optimo Refuse Collection Vehicle (RCV)' we invite Limburg.net and Verhaert New Products and Services companies and research groups with experience and knowledge about mechanics, mechatronics, electro-mechanics, hydraulics, mobile compression systems, sensorymechanical engineering to participate in a market consultation.

Challenge

Limburg.net is looking for the waste collection system of the future. The objectives are to develop a system that allows (i) to collect more fractions separately, (ii) at the same or lower cost price, (iii) with less transport kilometers, (iv) high customer friendliness and (v) remains ergonomic for the loader.

Optimo is a project in which it is tested whether the simultaneous collection of the different separated waste fractions in one transport meets these requirements. Citizens sort by type of waste in bags with different colors, but all bags are collected with the same refuse collection vehicle (RCV). In a sorting center the bags are then sorted optically.

The first results of the pilot project are positive, but an important problem is that in the traditional RCVs the waste is compressed as much as possible to reach a large loading capacity. Only limited pressing was allowed in the pilot project because the bags were not allowed to tear. Tearing of the bags results in the degradation from selectively sorted material to residual waste. Limburg.net now wants, together with PIO, to focus on the development of a RCV that limits the tear percentages, while the load capacity is maintained (via compaction).

Objective market consultation

During the market consultation we want to 'match' the demand of Limburg.net's with parties that can contribute to the solution. The aim is to examine to what extent companies and research groups can provide solutions for the needs of Limburg.net, and how feasible (in terms of time, budget, development, etc.) and innovative these solutions are. The focus of this market consultation is on the development of, or adaptation to, the structure of the RCV. Other elements necessary for the successful implementation of the Optimo system, such as e.g. sorting, logistics or improved refuse bags, fall outside the scope of this market consultation. These issues will be addressed in a separate process by Limburg.net.

For a smooth discussion and good result it is recommended to have your company or research group represented by a technical employee (rather than by a sales or PR employee). They can usually estimate better and faster what the technological solutions can be for each use case.

The outcome of the market consultation should enable Limburg.net to develop or purchase a suitable innovative solution for the stated need via procurement.
